Garageband project opened in Logic Pro 10.8.1 midi tracks have no record function

I am working on continuing to track guitars and drums on a project my nephew started in Garageband. He ran the latest update, recorded multiple midi tracks, and then we copied the file from his Mac into a folder shared in my iCloud Drive. I Opened it in Logic Pro10.8. I tried to create a new software instrument track to use EX Drummer with my Roland TD-17 kit. The only thing I can do is record the midi from the kit into the EZ drummer plugin, I can't record the midi from the kit in the track, there is record enable button on my midi tracks. Is this a bug, or did they remove this function? I can create a new project in Logic and create a midi track and I get the record functionality. We were hoping to continue working on his music in my studio, after he demo's the songs on his Mac with GarageBand. Has anyone experienced this issue?

Mac mini, macOS 14.2

This is because the settings of the garagband project are transferred to the Logic project.

There are some options. After converting to a Logic project

• you can copy and paste everything (cmd+a) into a new, personal template of your choice.

• you can import everything into a project of your choice

• or apply User Defaults (cntr+click in the tracks) to the fresh converted project.

I prefer option one or two.

Edit: Transfer the files from the cloud to a local hard drive before continue to work.
