screen changes size right before loading
when i click on a link it gets smaller first then loads to the proper size for the actual link- how can i make this smoother and stop it happening?

Well I have no explanation... I do don't use shortcuts
try something different and compare your results.
Change the default web browser... on Mac
change home page—Safari>Settings

an example is on my home page- i have shortcuts along the bottom. when i click on one the entire page becomes smaller then the link opens. this is the regular size upon opening. i cant capture the shrinking size.
