Turning Off Sleep Focus on Apple Watch Does NOT Turn Alarm Off

Recently got an Apple Watch.

Usually when I sleep I use the sleep schedule combined with sleep focus. From what I understand, if you turn off sleep focus on your phone before the alarm goes off, it will skip the alarm for the day.

this does not seem to be the case with the Apple Watch. If I wake up before my alarm and turn off sleep focus, it will either ask me 2 things. 1) it will ask if I’m awake and want to turn off the alarm. 2) it will just play the alarm. in both cases sleep focus is OFF.

not sure if this is intended behavior or I’m doing something wrong here.

I just found out that turning off Sleep Focus has a different effect depending if you do it on the phone or the watch.

If you turn off Sleep Focus early on the watch, that will mark the end of your sleep and the tracked sleep will be saved. If you do it on the phone, the sleep data will be discarded.

When you turn off Sleep Focus on your watch, you should get that little "Good morning!" screen which shows you some weather info. When I did that, the alarm was dismissed for the day. Next alarm is tomorrow morning.

There was some prior version for me that would turn my alarm off when I turned off the sleep focus on my watch when I woke up. Now when I turn it off (I get no “good morning” message or anything else) my alarm still goes off as scheduled, sometimes hours later if I’ve slept poorly. Don’t know how to revert it back to turning sleep focus off on my watch turns off the day’s alarm.
