My Friend forgot her sons apple id

My friend got her son an iPad a bit ago and he forgot the passcode. He entered it in so many times it is stuck on iPad unavailable. She knows the passcode and the password to his account but not the Apple ID or the email attached to it. She has been trying to figure out how to get it unlocked. We are thinking that factory resetting it would work but from what I read it could do an activation lock. Can anyone help? I’m not sure the generation but I’m not sure it matters or not.

If you forgot your iPad passcode - Apple Support

if your issue is with the activation lock then

activation lock is not a thing on the ipad it's a theft protection on apples servers

it needs to be removed How to remove Activation Lock - Apple Support

if you don't know your appleID password If you have forgotten your Apple ID password – Apple Support (UK)

if you don't know your appleID https://iforgot.apple.com/

then you will need the assistance of apple Activation Lock - Support (apple.com)

And or

Contact - Official Apple Support

and or

Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple
