apple watch burns my wrist

I use watch 9, and today I woke up with pain on my wrist. When I took off the watch, I noticed a wound on my wrist, which quickly turned into a blister and then a burn mark. It seems I'm not the only one facing this issue; there have been similar discussions before. If I experience it again, I might have to stay away from the apple watch for a while. I suspect it's related to the watch heating up when the red sensor is active.
