I had an Apple Pencil before and lost it, so my mom gave me hers and it won’t stay connected?

So I can’t find my old apple first fen pencil, so my mom gave me hers. I’ve been trying for an hour now trying to keep the one my mom gave me connected to my iPad. It’ll connect, then immediately disconnect. It’ll say that it’s at 3% but when it’s charging it’ll drastically go up and say it’s fully charged. I don’t understand and it aggravatig

Yes, like discharged. The Apple Pencils use a rechargeable lithium batteries. These batteries, if left discharged or with very little charge over an extended period of time, lose their ability to be charged.


Based on your description of the issue you are having, I'm guessing that is the case here and why I asked when the last time it was fully charged BEFORE your mom gave it to you.
