Guided access will not turn on

I have an iPad mini 5 running iOS 17.0, and guided access does not work. I checked the settings and it says to triple click the home button. My home button works fine, but when I triple click the home button, it automatically goes into switch mode. When I triple click the home button again, it asks me “Are you sure you want to turn off switch control?” I chose OK, and it turns it off. But it never gave me the option to turn on Guided access
