Adding card to Apple Wallet does not work

Hello.

I recently acquired a new debit card after my old one expired and I am trying to add it to my Apple Wallet. When I attempt to add it into Apple Wallet, it gives me the "Set Up Face ID & Passcode" popup. I already have both set up, but when I click it, it just brings me to settings with nowhere to set it up. This is on my iPhone 10R running iOS 17.2.1.

I have added this card to Apple Pay and it works fine. But again, only on my laptop (M2 MacBook Air running macOS 14.2.1) and the card doesn't show up in settings on my iPhone.

Any help?

Face ID may be having an error.

Reset Face ID

If you still need help, reset Face ID, then set it up again. Go to Settings, tap Face ID & Passcode, then tap Reset Face ID. Next tap Set up Face ID to set it up again.

Step 4 requires you to press and hold side button until Apple logo appears and then release the button. This could be 60 seconds or longer. The iPhone will restart and return you to the Lock Screen.

  1. Press and quickly release the volume up button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume down button.
  3. Press and hold the side button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the side button.
