Isn't there any workaround for ECG feature banned in many countries?

Dear Apple Community,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my enthusiasm for the incredible advancements in health-related features on Apple Watches, particularly the ECG functionality. As a user based in Pakistan, unfortunately, the ECG feature is not available, and I understand there might be regulatory reasons for this limitation.

While I appreciate the complexities of global regulations, I'd like to propose a suggestion that could potentially enhance user experience while addressing any concerns related to medical features. Considering that the ECG function on Apple Watches is designed to provide valuable health insights, it would be immensely helpful if Apple could issue a disclosure. This disclosure could state that the ECG feature on Apple Watches is not intended as a substitute for professional medical-grade ECG devices.

The disclosure could explicitly mention that Apple does not endorse the ECG feature as an alternative to actual medical-grade ECGs. Users could be advised to consult their healthcare professionals or visit a hospital for a more reliable and precise ECG reading when needed. This not only aligns with Apple's commitment to user health and safety but also serves as a clear disclaimer, helping users make informed decisions about their health.

There are a number of Chinese (non-name) brand wathces and bands that offer the ECG (blood pressure and other measurement) features with no certifications or regulatory approvals.

I believe such a disclosure could potentially address regulatory concerns while also providing users in regions without ECG access a clearer understanding of the feature's limitations and the importance of seeking professional medical advice when necessary.

In reality if Apple wanted, it could have gotten a regulatory approval years ago but since (seemingly) they aren't or can't obtain one, this could potentially allow Apple users to utilize a full functional watch.

Best regards,

Mansoor H.

no, it has a gps so it knows where it is located

even if the apple watch was purchased in a country where it's not approved it will not work in countries where it is.

ECG is viewed as a medical device which mean it require official

approval from the government of a country before it's legal for apple

to offer these are the countries which has provided with said approval so far

watchOS - Feature Availability - Apple

ECG implies that citizens' medical data be stored by a foreign third-party company without individual

approval by the government of said country, and that is not something all countries feel comfortable with.
