i lost my charging case and used my wifes case to charge my airpods, but my phone won't connect to them. Why is that?

I left work yesterday and left my charging case on the desk. They are now missing. I used my wife's charging case last night to get a charge on my AirPods. I took them with me to work this morning but left her case at home for her AirPods. But now I can't connect to them anymore. What do I need to do?

Replacement AirPods case won’t connect with iPhone I lost my Airpods Pro case and have just bought a non-Apple replacement. It’s charging the AirPods fine, and allows me to use the AirPods with other Apple devices (which still recognize my AirPods under their existing name). But when I try to connect the case to my phone (iPhone 11), it shows up as ‘not your AirPods’. It allows me to start connecting, but when I press the button at the back of the case, the LED stays green and then goes out. It never turns white or amber. And the connection never progresses. My AirPods are no longer listed among my Bluetooth devices. So I just can’t find a way to connect them to my phone.
