Printer doesn't work anymore after upgrade to 14.2.1

Hello, after I upgraded my Macbook air 15" to the latest version of sonoma 14.2.1 I can't access anymore my two printers (epson and Hp). The are shown in the list but they do not respond. I did the print reset procedure the Apple suggest, but now I don't have anymore printers installed and ther is no way to install them again, even using the specific easy softwar downloaded from HP. If I print from my iphone, the printers respond promptly.

I read that many users hav this bug...how can I solve??

Reboot, firmware upgrade and reset printer procedure (ctrl+click) alrady tried.

mbaets,

I have exactly the same problem as several others above. My Brother All-in-one printer has always worked seamlessly, and still does when connected to my old 2013 iMac (now obsolete due to age/compatibility issues).

But after upgrading my new Mac Mini M2 to Sonoma, it will not printer at all even though it does recognize both the printer & driver.

mbaets, your workaround doesn't work for me bcoz my Sonoma Print Center has no settings. Also, I have no idea what it means to "install the printer as an IP Printer with the address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (i.e. 192.168.0.144 (depending on the address...)." Please keep in mind that ordinary hill-billies (like me) who are not not cyber savvy come here for help -- and if you reply to them in Guru Language they are still lost. Please use language that is comprehensible to ordinary laymen.

I have owned only Macs since my very first computer 30 yrs ago (1992) and Macs have always been as intuitive as a toaster -- you plug it in and PRESTO it works.

Right now, I need to print important appointment confirmations, airline & hotel bookings, but I'm stuck with the much ballyhooed Sonoma which will not let me print.

I'm really amazed that with all the many Mac expert gurus on this forum, NOT ONE has replied with a solution.

I updated my iMac to 14.2.1 and I get the printer error too ( epson Xp -342) I have tried to use the add printer, it can see it but I get the error message. My macbook air can still wireless print as I have not applied the latest update. My iPad can also print so nothing wrong with my wifi router or printer it was the last Sonoma update which has screwed it up . I also cannot print from my iMac when I try and use its IP address. When I use epson net on my iMac it also cannot see my Epson wireless printer. Any News of an up date ?

Sonoma—a new way

see spotlight search...

print icon called “Print Center “ replaces all of the old printer icons. Everything works as expected.

In Print Center, use the "Printer -> Add to Dock" menu.

If your printers are listed as AirPrint printer, delete the existing printer, and add it again, select AirPrint.

All I can report is that both my Epson and HP printers are working just fine. I can also remind you that HP has a nasty reputation for abandoning their printers after a short period of time.

I can suggest you try resetting your print system, then add your printers back in.

Same here. 14.2.1 on two machines (Mac mini M1 and MBP 16 2019). HP Color LaserJet MFP M476dw. I've tried everything mentioned by Apple. No problem to install the printer. It will be seen by both computers, but when printing it goes on "Wait". Doesn't matter if the computers are connected by LAN or WLan. (Printer is connected by LAN).

No problem with printing from an iPhone or a windows computer (over WLan)

Installed Sonoma 14.2.2 on my iMac as apple requested. Now my Brother and Espon won't print. When I use the Epson software updater on the Mac, I get "Apple image capture error (4294957394.)(-9902)" what ever than means. The printers show up in settings- printer/scanner but they won't respond. I'm not computer literate even though I used Apples since 1989. I bought Apples because they used to be easy and seamless, but apparently that not the case now. My work around is emailing what I want to print to my wife's Mac-book and have her print stuff out because she didn't "upgrade" to Sonoma. I have lost my faith in Apple!

Hello, I still have to investigate how and why, but I found the solution to my problem that was due the network.

When I upgraded the SO I also changed the access point of my network. I installed a brand new Zyxel AP that seams to be the cause. You can surf properly and see the printers, but you can't connect. So I unplugged it and used the router wifi to connect my devices and everything works.

So I deduct that is not a 100% problem of Sonoma in my case. I still have to make some tests in the next days to understand if it's the AP itself or Sonoma that doesn't digest something in my network.

I will keep upadate in the next days. Hope this can help someone's
