Phone calls breaking up in iPhone blue tooth hearing aids

I am hearing impaired and use hearing aids. I heavily rely on them for my work. When on a phone call which is blue toothed to my iPhone compatible hearing aids quality is fine but then the call will cut in and out. I have tried all sorts of things. Updated firmware on hearing devices, updated iOS, restart, reset, repair etc. I think the problem has to do with notifications. Calls drop in and out where I can't hear the other person the longer the call goes on. So, I'm looking for a way to stop all notifications, email pushes etc while on a phone call. Is there an automatic way to do this? I do not hear the notification sounds however when on a call as additional information. If there is a way to do this as a trial to see if I can improve the calls I would appreciate it. Also if anyone else has experienced the same and has another solution let me know. Thanks.

Put your phone on vibrate prior to picking up a call, then back on ringer once you're done.
