cannot verify payment information

Tried to update my payment method within the App Store on my MacBook Air, but when I enter my (correct and valid) credit card information, a pop-up window says "Cannot Verify Payment Information" and says to contact Apple Support. When I contact Apple Support, it just leads me back to the App Store window where I can supposedly update my payment method, except I can't, since it keeps saying it can't verify my payment information.

Updating Payment Method On New Macbook I bought a Mac as of a few days ago. When trying to add a credit card, it comes up with "there is an issue with your payment method, please update and try again". I understand that when there are previous purchases that have failed to come out of an account it tends to come up with this, however, I am unsure of what to do as this is a brand new mac and apple id and I have never made a payment. App Store keeps asking for payment details on my Mac When I tried to login apple store on my mac laptop, at the phase review, I stuck on the step two "pay method and phone number".
