Is my Magic Keyboard too old to update?

Keyboard is from an iMac the family bought about 2009. The big thick 25 inch (?) version.

Not sure there is a way to update from version 0.5.0. This is screen shot from my Settings -> keyboard ->

from the Mac Studio I have.

Thoughts?

Keyboard still works. Interested in keeping until is finally breaks or dies, but if needed will consider a new keyboard.

Please look on the bottom or back panel of the board for a model mnumber. IT will either be in the format "M####" or "A####" where "#" represents numbers.

It was not until the thin-line aluminium-case "A1243" in 2007 that keyboards had upgradeable firmware.

You just might be able to!!!

I broke out the Apple Card and bought a new magic keyboard for Mac Silicon devices. Different feel, but works the same overall. I like Touch ID to unlock and open apps, etc...

And after connecting, I checked the version. was something like 1.0.5. I plugged in to charge and checked about an hour later. Already up to the 2.0.6. quite zippy on that stealth download.
