Sounds like you have side loaded the asset via Apple Configurator on a Mac.

Please log into Apple Business Manager and search for the device on the Devices tab. Select the device from the results.

On the device Overview panel, is the device assigned to the "Apple Configurator" under the MDM Server label? If so, press the Edit MDM Server button at the top. Select Assign to the following MDM: and set the device to you actual MDM server.

Wait 15 minutes for this to cascade through Apple's infrastructure and for it to hit your MDM. Note, if you are using Intune you may need to wait 24 hours if you do not log into Intune and force a sync to ABM. Most MDMs will query every 15 minutes.

Now reset the device and disconnect it from Configurator. With the device assigned to your MDM you can now allow for over the air, automated enrollment. Again, I am assuming you have assigned the device to a pre-stage policy in your MDM.

Hope this is helpful.
