Qi charger can discharge iPhone

I have seen only one or two mentions of this and I don’t understand the mechanism. As far as I know charging is a one-way process so I was surprised to see this battery graph which is repeatable.

This particular third party charger will charge to 100% then shut off.

If I remove the phone from the charger it will retain its charge, but if I leave it on there it will discharge at an alarming rate.

Removing after charge

Leaving on the charger

I’m happy to ditch the charger but I don’t understand how this can happen.

That’s pretty interesting to see. If you don’t know …I haven’t a clue.

Thanks, the charger claims to be Qi certified and AFAIK that is all that is required. I’m quite prepared for the Qi certification to be a lie on an eBay €8 device, but surely the wireless phone circuit is diode protected against discharge?

Other ASC responses in previous years blame software as the charge is one-way, however none of the OPs gave evidence if what happens off the charger. I wonder what other software could be persuaded to discharge without leaving a trace in the battery graph.
