At System Settings > Accessibility > Display you can change the outline and fill colors of the pointer.

This is a global setting and not just for the Mail app.

There is no separate setting in Mail for the color of the pointer.

Okay, that's pretty clear. And unusual.

You might try restarting the computer in Safe mode and see if the same thing is happening in the Mail app in that circumstance. Sometimes a safe mode boot is all it takes to correct this sort of odd behavior.

Follow the guidance there appropriate for your Mac, whether Apple silicon chip or Intel processor.

Text colors in mail messages can be changed. If you click the "Show format bar" icon (Aa) in the toolbar, another small toolbar will appear and you can set text colors there. Does this affect the issue?

I'm unclear in which section you are having this problem. Can you provide a screen shot that shows the problem, please?

Try changing the Highlight color in System Settings > Appearance.

But I gotta say that on my MBP, Ventura, that has no effect on the cursor color in my Mail app.

I'm on Sonoma at the moment. I'll check Ventura in a bit. As far as I know it should work the same.

Just checked Ventura. It is not the same as Sonoma.
