Monitor to pair with Mac Mini

On the verge of buying a fully equipped Mac Mini (to replace my 7 year old iMac Pro.) However, a monitor will be required. I know Apple has an off-the-planet model for a mind numbing $1,800. A monitor more than half the price of the computer? Also, don't need that high of rez/quality. I'm going to guess that I can't really ask this question here, but could someone please make some suggestions based on experience or maybe a site(s) that discusses/suggests solutions?

I really appreciate the openness and helpfulness of people here, and thanks.

I would suggest to take a look at the LG displays.

I have an LG 27UP600 which is the base model 4K HD400 display. The only difference between the base model and the pricier options is the number of bells and whistles added as they all use the same video panel. Also, shop around online for they can go on sale for some pretty good discounts. Prices can ran range from around $300 to $500 USD which is a fraction of the Apple Studio Display. They also have a line of gaming monitors as well if you are into that sort of thing.

FWIW, LG was at one time the supplier of iMac display panels. Not sure about the latest iMac models. For me, the color range and vividness looked quite similar to the late 2013 27" iMac that I had.

One last thing, regardless of which display you purchase, immediately by high quality certified video cables the same time you purchase you display and toss any that came with the display. Manufacturers will supply the cheapest possible cables they can get away with and sometimes can cause a variety of issues.

1) The nice thing is, that most any aftermarket display will work with the Mac mini.

see > Connect a display to Mac mini - Apple Support

2) I do not like to make suggestions, because my budget, taste and needs maybe different than yours.

What I suggest, is that you go to a Best Buy and compare some displays.

Then ask for assistance from one of their Apple specialist.

Just keep in mind that some are better that others.

That goes for both displays and specialist.

Thanks for the info. I figured it would require some search and guess. Best Buy has been useful in the distant past, but these days it's 200 miles away, so not as attractive. Guess I need to get myself together and make a run to the mega-ugly metro. Actually being able to see/feel a monitor is a good thing - necessary even. That gets me going.

Again, thx.
