My Apple TV is not listed in iCloud Find My Device

Why isn’t my Apple TV device found when I go to Find my devices? It is not listed as a device. How can I get it recognized?

Apple TV isn’t listed in Find My, as it doesn’t have reliable precision location services. In short, Apple TV isn't designed to know where it is, and is purposely excluded from Find My.

The only recourse for location is the possibility of geolocation lookup for the IP address, which is wildly inaccurate, with varying outcomes by methods and databases used. At best, geolocation lookup may get something at city level proximity — which select content providers may use, e.g. to connect you to a ‘local station’.

It would be listed in your device list: Check your Apple ID device list to find where you're signed in - Apple Support

Apple TV (3rd generation) has two Apple sign-ins. One for the iTunes Store, and one for iClouds services. The credentials for these are often the same for most users.

If you can’t sign in for iCloud services on this model device, then there have been a few changes to iCloud that may affect this:

  1. My Photo Stream has been discontinued for all users. No use in trying to get this anymore.
  2. Advanced Data Protection for iCloud as an account property may invalidate some iCloud services on devices with older software. ADP may have been activated from updating a different device to e.g. iOS 16.2 or later, and agreeing to ADP. There is a procedure to turn off ADP if needed, as described in the link.

Apple TV isn’t listed in Find My.

Go to https://appleid.apple.com/ to see your Device list on the left hand side. It will come up as the room you assigned it to, for example; “Livingroom”

If signed in on the Apple TV it should show in the Home App in the room you’ve assigned it to. This assures you it is in fact connected to your iCloud account as well. You say it’s in the Device list on your iPad.

(more information). When I go to my name in the account settings app on my iPad (at the very top) I see my Apple TV, which is listed as Apple TV 3. However, it is not listed anywhere else when I go into my account, such as the online ICloud account or the support app. I think that is why I can’t sign in to ICloud on the Apple TV. How can I get it recognized as a device in my account?
