Changing Apple Itunes plans

I have Itunes family plan now under my Apple ID on my phone and share it with my college aged son. I don't use it so I want to change it from the family plan to a student plan. Although, I want to make sure he doesnt lose his music he has saved when I make the change. Can someone help me?

You cannot change it to the student plan yourself. He needs to apply for it himself on his own device by selecting the option from the Apple Music subscription.

Once he has activated his plan, you can cancel the Family Plan.

Note, that the Student plan cannot be shared with anyone, and only he would have access to it.
