My iPhone keeps randomly restarting with 100% battery.

My iPhone has been randomly restarting since the past fall.

I had this happen before just 2 years ago, and that was because the battery (the one originally in the phone when I first got it) had finally degraded to the point it was no longer usable. So I had the battery replaced in June 2022, and it seemed to be working just fine for the better part of a year.

But then, around last October or so, my phone suddenly started having episodes where it would randomly restart with 10% battery, even though the battery level was much higher before. And when I manually restart it, the battery level is more or less the way it was before.

On top of that, when I check Battery Health, the battery is still at 100% maximum capacity and at normal peak performance (or so it says).

Besides, I don’t understand how a phone battery could work perfectly fine for over a year of normal use only to spontaneously degrade to the point of being borderline unusable. I don’t know how that would even be possible.

I tried other ways to alleviate the problem, but nothing seems to work. I tried clearing storage space, clearing my web browser’s cache, cleaning my charger port, manually restarting it countless times. I don’t know what the **** is wrong with my phone!

Any ideas?

No one on this user-to-user site has the test equipment and special software needed to run diagnostic checks. Even if we did, it would not be a good idea to try to run a check remotely. We could offer guesses, but you likely want something more substantial as an answer.

Please make an appointment at the Apple Store or take the phone to an authorized Apple service shop, so they can run some checks and tests on the phone.

That's the problem. Apple doesn't sell their batteries to non-authorized shops so the battery they put in is most likely a cheap knockoff from China.

You will need to take this issue up with that shop as Apple will no longer repair the phone now that it has been repaired by a non-authorized repair shop.

I don't know if an authorized service center would be as strict about the rules, but you might try taking it to Best Buy if you have one in your area. They are an authorized Apple repair facility. They might be kind and put a genuine battery in your phone.
