My text keyboard has gone sideways. How do I get it back to portrait?

My iPhone is a 12 Pro. Suddenly, my screen in messages has gone to landscape orientation. This is only happening in the message app. How do I get it back to normal?

Text Message Keyboard will not go Landscape Our family has 4 iPhones. All are on the same account and have the highest IOS version installed. 2 of the phones (7 and 12 ProMax) the keyboard for text messages will turn to landscape when the phone is turned on its side. On the other 2 phones (12 and 13), the text message keyboard will not go to landscape when you turn the phone on its side. We want to be able to have the keyboard go landscape so that the keys are larger and so we can access the handwritten message feature. The Portrait Orientation Lock is NOT on. All other apps function properly when the phone is turned on its side. For example if you are using the calculator and turn the phone sideways, the additional keys show up. Messages keyboard stuck in landscape Hi, when I open message it opens in portrait but when I type a reply the keyboard is in landscape obscuring the message text box. I have an iPhone 12 running IOS 15.6.1

Only texts suddenly changed to landscape, and I don't know how All of a sudden, my text messages changed to landscape orientation on my iPhone 8. I went to Controls, and the portrait mode was locked. I unlocked and tried just rotating my phone but it did nothing. I don't know how this happened, but I'd like to change it back to Portrait. (This is NOT happening in any other windows, either browser, mail, photos, calendar, etc.)

Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary software glitches. Turn off your iPhone, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
1. Restart the device. That's it.
