Apparently, there is no setting to prevent a single tap on someone’s phone number from launching a call on my iPhone. However, I find the single tap to make a call to be embarrassing and inconvenient and the main source of my accidental calls. Does anyone know how to get apple to change this, so that there would be a setting that I could choose from. That would require a double tap to make a call? The difference between scrolling and tapping seems too small.

However, I have learned to avoid those accidental calls by closing the phone app after a call. You can do so this way: From the Home Screen, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause in the middle of the screen. Swipe right or left to find the app that you want to close. Swipe up on the app's preview to close the app.
