I keep getting this notification: "“iCupLIVE-Euro2016Edition” will damage your computer. You should move it to the Trash."

I keep getting this notification pop up:


“iCupLIVE-Euro2016Edition” will damage your computer. You should move it to the Trash.


I have moved the file to Trash and emptied the trash, and the pop up will not go away. How can I make sure the malware threat is gone and the pop up to go away?

Yes. First, start your Mac in "Safe Mode": How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support. Starting in Safe Mode takes longer than usual so let it finish.


While in that mode, drag the following items to the Trash:



Then, restart your Mac normally and confirm the alert messages cease to appear.


Notes:


  1. "MacKeeper" is notorious garbage that should never be installed on Macs. Uninstall it in accordance with its instructions. After uninstalling it, examine the contents of each of those folders again, and drag any of its remaining components to the Trash.
  2. Regarding the two "romeletet" files in that folder, I am not familiar with it. Presumably, you know what those files are for and are certain you need them. These instructions leave them in place based on that assumption.
