MacBook Air 2020, CPU temperature almost always at 100 degrees

HI,

as per the title, my macbook air (year 2020 - intel cpu) often reaches a temperature of 100 degrees, even with (relatively) few software open.

How would you recommend proceeding?

I already tried cleaning it.

What should be the correct average CPU temperature during use?

As soon as it is turned on, the situation is as follows:

sudo powermetrics --samplers smc |grep -i "CPU die temperature"

CPU die temperature: 97.64 C (fan)

CPU die temperature: 95.23 C (fan)

CPU die temperature: 92.93 C

CPU die temperature: 91.33 C

CPU die temperature: 89.90 C

CPU die temperature: 88.65 C

CPU die temperature: 88.29 C

CPU die temperature: 92.00 C

CPU die temperature: 95.36 C (fan)

CPU die temperature: 93.34 C (fan)

Competing antivirus applications?

Run activity monitor and see what is hogging CPU%.

Some browsers can be hogs as well.

If you are swapping lots of data pages into and out of memory with the disk/SSD, that can heat things up to.

If you are maxing out RAM and there is little space left in the disk/SSD, it may be time to upgrade to M1 or M2 processor with more of each.
