Software Update does not show any upgrades for High Sierra

Attempting to upgrade an iMac on High Sierra 10.13.6 (Retina 4K, 21.5 inch, 2017) to Monterey but Software Update does not show any available upgrades. According to the hardware requirements I should be able to upgrade to at least Big Sur, or preferably Monterey.

Why is Software Update not showing upgrades?

iMac 21.5″ 4K, macOS 10.13

Back up your data, check the application compatibility table, click here, and then on the download link for a higher OS. Updates aren't the same as full-version upgrades such as these.

Catalina and above won't run 32-bit software and split the functions of iTunes up; if you choose one of them, use Go64 as well.

Thank you for the reply. The one concern is that somewhere in the documentation it stated that upgrades do not show if they are not compatible with the device used. I am running a backup, but would hate to have issues during the upgrade. Was the statement that "upgrades do not show if they are not compatible" incorrect?

... and is this an upgrade or an update?

It states "update", yet the requirement is MacOS 10.9 or higher which is older than the current High Sierra 10/13/6. Another concern is that the software category is "utilities". Should it not say "OS" or similar?
