Podcast audio randomly cuts out, app continues "playing" without audio. Restarting the app sometimes fixes it but other times a full restart is necessary.
When I use the Apple Podcasts app lately I keep running into the same issue. I'll be listening to a podcast when the audio suddenly cuts out for no obvious reason. When I go to the app to see what's going on I see that the timeline is still advancing and it appears as if it's still playing normally even though it's silent. Usually if I close and reopen the app it'll start working the way it's supposed to again but sometimes that doesn't work and I have to restart the phone completely. I know it's not an issue with the phone's general audio playback as other apps can still produce sound when this happens.
This problem started on my old iPhone 12 mini and has persisted with my recent upgrade to the iPhone 15 Pro. This makes me suspect that it might be an issue with the podcast's servers but I never used to have this issue until relatively recently. I'm not sure if this helps but the specific podcast I usually listen to is Daniel and Jorge Explain the Universe from iHeart Radio Podcasts. Has anyone else experienced this issue?
