How to put "Original Content" file back into my iMovie Library so my files in FCPX don't show as "missing"
I was working on a video in iMovie and then got Final Cut. So I imported my iMovie Library into FCP. Today. however, my MacBook was telling me that my storage was full. Even though I had iCould, I still needed to delete some things and move things around. I opened the storage manager in Settings and sorted by largest. As I suspected, the largest files were in the iMovie Library.
I noticed that all of these large files were in a folder titled "Original Media" which is something that iMovie created itself. I just assumed that all my iMovie stuff had been copied over to my Final Cut Pro and my computer was storing two copies of the same thing. To save space, I tried to move this "Original Media" file out of where ever its original location was into my iCloud. I then opened up FCP and my timeline looked like this:
All of my files were missing. I then realized that when I moved the "Original Media" folder out of where ever it's original location was (which I forgot) I took away FCP's ability to pull files.
I moved it out of my iCloud and back onto my computer and tried dragging it on both iMovie Library files both from iMovie and FCP but it doesn't let me.
Basically, I need to find the file path to see where this "Original Media" folder is supposed to go. I think I can only access it from the storage manager in Settings but there must be another way. I could just re-edit the whole project, since I still have the files, but I'd rather not. The "Original Media" folder is currently in my "Movies" folder in my library.
How can I put these files back into the correct place? Nothing was deleted, just moved.
