Sites try to load, then go to blank page with blue circle?

I am using a very old iPad Air, running V 12.5.7, but this just started happening. Certain sites start to load, their homepage opens for a split second then the screen goes white. The web address is in the search bar, but below the left arrow in the white bar is an open blue circle. The page is unresponsive. I did a complete reset but that didn't help. It has plenty of storage-only using 8.5 GB of 16 GB. I googled this, but found nothing. Any clues out there?
