Can't Open TurboTax 2023 on macOS Sonoma 14.3 (latest version)

Hey Everyone,

I attempted to install TurboTax 2023 on my MacBook Pro OS Sonoma Version 14.3 with an M1 chip. When I go to open the app it bounces on the dock for 5-6 seconds, and then disappears. I spent over 2 hours on the phone with Intuit Customer Service troubleshooting and they could not help me resolve the problem. I spent close to another hour on the phone with Apple Customer Service who told me to contact the 3rd-party developer (i.e., Intuit). I have tried all of the recommendations on both the Apple Support and Intuit on forums, but no luck.

Has anyone with a 2020 (or newer) MacBook Pro been able to successfully install TurboTax 2023? I also tried uninstalling the 2023 version and reinstalled 2022 TurboTax, but it does not work either.

Any guidance is appreciated. Thanks!

I have(had) the same issue; just tried it again, and, now it is working. Maybe something in the Cleveland water; my suggestion is to try again. Earlier, I had to force quit a number of times, which sends a report to Apple.

I have been running TurboTax 2023 on my 2024 MacBook Air M3 (and previously my MacBook Air M1) running what has always been the latest version of macOS Sonoma.

Here’s the solution 😁

When bouncing occurs in the dock and then no window appears, simply control-click the TurboTax icon on the dock and choose “Show all windows”. (I’m pretty certain that’s the correct wording although my Mac is admittedly not in front of me at the moment.)

I was having the same issue. I think it is related to TurboTax not handling file system access permissions correctly. In my case I had my TurboTax file in a folder in iCloud Drive. Looking the the file permissions for TurboTax it appears to only have access to the documents directory. I moved the file back to the root directory of the documents folder and then opened the file by command clicking on the file and choosing open with. It appears right now I have to always open it this way for it to work. Also, if I use the files menu and try to select the recent option I will get a beachball and have to force quit. I believe this is because TurboTax is remembering the previous iCloud location and when it tries to access this file location info cause it causes TurboTax to hang.

Hope that maybe helps with anyone else that is still experiencing this issue.
