iPhone 13 Touch Screen is Unresponsive - iOS 17

My daughters iPhone's screen is unresponsive. Touch is not working. You could see notifications etc. but the touch was not working. She tried the force restart multiple times (volume up, down and hold in the side button until the apple logo appears and it was still unresponsive). We read many articles through the apple community and decided to erase the phone and update it. She logged into iCloud and erased her phone. And then plugged in her phone and updated it to 17.3 using the finder. The screen is still unresponsive. Does anyone have a fix? This is VERY frustrating!

Update:

I took it to the Mac store. They first tried a hard reset (different from what we can do at home). That didn't work. They tried replacing the screen. That didn't work. They were going to see if a rear system replacement would work but apple advised that a whole unit replacement would be needed $599 plus tax. This is very annoying. The phone is 2 years and a month old.

Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch, then tap Haptic Touch or 3D & Haptic Touch. Choose the touch duration—Fast or Slow. On an iPhone with 3D Touch, you can also choose the pressure needed—Light, Medium, or Firm. Test your new settings on the image at the bottom of the screen.
