iPhone touchscreen unresponsive after update 2/17/24 update

Set my phone on the charger and hit update now to get the update that was scheduled for tonight. Went back to it when the phone rang. Said “update complete” but when I went to pick it up, the touchscreen wouldn’t work (working fine before). Pushed the side buttons to get to shut down screen, but again the touchscreen won’t work so I can’t use the slide off. Any suggestions? I’m really far away from an Apple Store.

That process did not work for me. I was stuck on the shut down screen and the touch screen did not work and after the process was still on the shut down screen.

What did work? I just let the battery run out overnight. This morning, I charged it up and it worked fine. Others should try this before an unnecessary trip to the Apple Store — which was what support recommended to me.
