how to download FREE word 365
I would like to update my Microsoft word 365. Do I have to pay extra for this? Please advise if I need to get another program.

If you have a Mac running a supported macOS version (macOS 12 Monterey, 13 Ventura or 14 Sonoma)), you can download Word 365 and other Microsoft apps from the Mac App Store for free.

Do note, that for editing and creating new documents with it, you need to pay Microsoft for a Office 365 subscription.

If you don't have a compatible version of macOS or you don't want to pay Microsoft for a subscription to create or edit documents then you will need a 3rd party alternative such as the entirely free Open Office or Libre Office suites.
