Is Final Cut Pro 10.4.3 compatible with MacOS Sonoma 14.3?
What happens with my current (unfinished) Final Cut Pro projects if I upgrade my MacOS to Sonoma 14.3., the latest version?

Hi Luis, you are right, that's why I am reluctant to upgrade, but I would need some new functions like in the tracker...
That is why it's crucial to have backups.
More often than not, things go smoothly, but when they don't, you can be in a bind.
It helps if you use external media - which, in such a large project, you should, anyway.
Make sure to backup your library, because once you open it in the new version, the library will be updated and will no longer open in the old one. Should need to revert, having the backup is essential.
If the media is external, and you already are using a proper backup plan, that part needs no more attention.
You should have a full Time Machine of your present system.
Then upgrade the OS, update FCP and see how it goes.
You may even install 14.3 in an external drive to try it out, though it has become more and more difficult to boot macs from externals...
You will need to update to a recent version of FCP to use Sonoma. The current version is 10.7.1.
And if you do decide to update, you must make sure to have full backups of everything.
Back your mac with Time Machine, and make backups of your libraries and media.
As Murphy's law has it, it is usually when there are no backups that problems tend to arise.
I will proceed with care and back ups.
Taking a backup is a very good thing to do.👍
If you don't save your data, you will have trouble like this, so please be careful.😅
Hi Tom, I work on a Mac mini M1. OS 12.6. and FCP 10.6.5 - I know that is ancient. Can I safely update to the latest OS and FCP 10.7. ? I am currently working on 2 long features for cinematic release...one is almost finished, the other one in the making. thanks for your advice. regards Pete-archer
Will 10.7 be able to update a 10.4 project? I know there's a cutoff version where you can't update any longer, and I'm just curious where that would be.
Yes, it will update. Any library after 10.1 can be updated.
It is always recommended not to mess with your software when you're in the middle of a major project.
All **** could break loose.

Thanks Luis, I will proceed with care and back ups.
