iMac boot up problem
My 7 year old 27" iMac won't boot, even in Safe mode. In recovery mode I can navigate to OS X Utilities, Up/Down arrows work fine. But keyboard Enter doesn't work, nor does my mouse. So I can't Continue.

That would indicate a hardware failure. Please look over If your Mac doesn't start up all the way and if you still cannot get it to startup please take it to your local Apple Authorized Service Provider. You can book an appointment yourself or call AppleCare and they will help.

To be honest a 7 year old iMac would be a 2017 model which is also obsolete now as it cannot run current versions of Mac OS and parts may be difficult to find. In addition Apple Stores will not work on them, however independent AASPs will.
If you want to fix it and you find the internal HD has crashed then your best alternative is an external SSD. Assuming you have been backing up using Time Machine then all your data is safe and you can restore it once you fix the existing machine or replace it with a new Mac.
