Stolen Device Protection using passcode to login to device

Stolen Device Protection (SDP) looks like a great addition to security.

Before I start messing with SDP, I want to keep my passcodes to login to my iPhone, iPad and MacBook and not swap to a FaceID login.

This is my first venture toward a FaceID and I wonder if I can add a FaceID for the SDP only?

Some help and reassurance would be most welcome.

Thank you.

You have to have FaceID enabled to enable SDP. There is no way to use FaceID only for some things and not others.

Note that you're not "swapping to FaceID". You can still use your passcode to log into your phone if you want.
