Microsoft Exchange on my iPhone keeps asking for a password

Keep getting popup on my iPhones asking for my Exchange password. I'm running 17.2 on both my 15 Pro Max and 15 Plus. My 7 Plus running 15.8 and all three are having the same issue. I have MS Office and use Outlook for mail, contacts, and calendar and iPhone uses Exchange. I've tried every password I have ever used and I keep getting incorrect password. I even changed my Outlook password yesterday to try and start from scratch and that didn't fix it. Today I got an error message in Skype saying there was a problem, enter password. It was not the same Exchange error. I entered my new Outlook password and I got in.

These are all personal phones and accounts so no IT support to contact. This started yesterday. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Deleting the account from my iPad and adding the account back choosing "Outlook" fixed the issue.

As explained in Microsoft's document, the issue arises from the old "Basic Authentication" method being retired. Full details are in the Microsoft document.

Hi, I have the same issue, but unfortunately, I cannot solve it by adding my email as Outlook.com. Since it is a university email, whenever I select Outlook.com I get an error saying "That Microsoft account doesn't exist. Enter a different account or get a new one." When selecting Microsoft Exchange I don't have any issues logging in, but I do get hourly prompts asking me to re-enter my password, which is extremely annoying. I should mention that this whole problem only started last week for me. I contacted Microsoft Support, but they couldn't help.

Also I just found it’s happening with notes and contacts.

and while they might be connected to the exchange via the phone, they are not linked directly

iOS is not asking, Microsoft’s mail server is asking, and iOS is just passing along the message.

but I change my accounts from exchange to outlook and now the ERROR is They can’t CONNECT TO THE SERVER!!!

When you deleted your account and then created a new account, what happened to your existing messages in your Mail app??

Automatic Reply is an Exchange feature; it isn’t supported by other Microsoft mail servers such as hotmail.

Well jesus c . . . . now on this ipad it only has options to sync with mail and notes.

Same setup as my iphone, but that one has contact, calendars and reminders as well.

One more thing, I have 2 outlook accounts, that are fairly new, that do not do this, as of yet.

Getting the same problem even on the settings page tried rebooting, tried deleting account changing name called apple support his is so silly started around 3 weeks ago
