Microsoft Exchange on my iPhone keeps asking for a password

I have had this same problem since yesterday for both of my exchange email accounts (Hotmail and MSN) on my IPhone 15 Pro Max and on my IPad Air. I have tried restarting both devices and deleting and re-adding both email accounts. I had Microsoft reset a new password for my Hotmail account as I wasn’t sure what the correct password was. Now my IPad continues with the incorrect password pop up and my iPhone says I’m not connected to the mail server. One of my accounts is a joint email with my husband. Our joint email account is fine on his Iphone. This is extremely frustrating!!!!

I will try but I am only having the issue with the mail app. It’s okay via the outlook app, via website - chrome and edge etc. I find it odd it’s only happening on an apple product (app) so i assumed it would an apple/ IOS issue (also no 2 factor or vpn - I saw your comments above)

This fixed it all for me. Thank you. The most frustrating thing is that Microsoft doesn't even make this obvious to the user. I tried logging in at their website and was even experiencing the issues with password not being recognized. Thanks again for providing this link.

Yet one more iOS bug! What is going on, Apple? You keep dumping new updates with more and more features but the entire OS experience has become an exercise in patience! From the Notes app causing overheating, to the keyboard not showing up when it should, to the Messages app going crazy if someone in a group changes their number, to Siri not being able to handle the simplest tasks, to iCloud not syncing, to pasting nagging, and everything in between.

No, One More Microsoft Bug!!! Microsoft has confirmed it. Have you ever considered checking facts before posting utter garbage? You could have saved yourself embarrassment by just READING THE DARN THREAD YOU POSTED TO!!!!

Hmmmm . . . I have it working on a newer iphone with Exchange account, but not working on an older ipad with an Exchange account.

When you delete the account prior to setting up the new account, what happens to the existing mail messages in your Mail app?

Thanks Alison - seems to have solved my issue on iPad too. Interesting that Exchange still works on iPhone but generates password problem on iPad. Only difference in Settings is the Automatic Reply function is gone on Outlook.com, which seemed to be part of the problem. Maybe Lawrence knows?

yep! I am about to change providers as I can’t go two weeks without email - I have technology for a reason, j can’t keep on logging in via webpage just to get to my emails.

i always thought it was too hard to change email addresses. Now it’s too hard to not to!

First, I do not see the pathway "Settings>Mail...so I cannot do any of this. (iPhone 14, ios 17.2.1)

Second, I believe that I need the Exchange account because I use OneNote on my Iphone. that way it is synced throughout all my devices.

But, I continually get the irritating popup.

Any suggestions?

Last night I deleted both accounts, restarted my phone, reinstalled my 2 Hotmail accounts, this morning both are flagging incorrect password, even though it is not, and when I hit cancel about a half dozen times it goes away for the day, but yet the email still works despite all of that. Its just annoying and yes, it has been doing this since I had I-phone 4s which was about 6 years ago. It also did it on my 12. Maybe not the same cause, but it is the same end resulting effect.

I can’t help on annoying password problem, but OneNote does work across devices if you use the Outlook.com (vs. Exchange) option in setting up your Outlook on iOS. And the Mail setting is in Settings/Mail. It’s below the Password setting, at least in my setup.
