Microsoft Exchange on my iPhone keeps asking for a password

Keep getting popup on my iPhones asking for my Exchange password. I'm running 17.2 on both my 15 Pro Max and 15 Plus. My 7 Plus running 15.8 and all three are having the same issue. I have MS Office and use Outlook for mail, contacts, and calendar and iPhone uses Exchange. I've tried every password I have ever used and I keep getting incorrect password. I even changed my Outlook password yesterday to try and start from scratch and that didn't fix it. Today I got an error message in Skype saying there was a problem, enter password. It was not the same Exchange error. I entered my new Outlook password and I got in.

These are all personal phones and accounts so no IT support to contact. This started yesterday. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Deleting the account from my iPad and adding the account back choosing "Outlook" fixed the issue.

As explained in Microsoft's document, the issue arises from the old "Basic Authentication" method being retired. Full details are in the Microsoft document.

I have had this same problem since yesterday for both of my exchange email accounts (Hotmail and MSN) on my IPhone 15 Pro Max and on my IPad Air. I have tried restarting both devices and deleting and re-adding both email accounts. I had Microsoft reset a new password for my Hotmail account as I wasn’t sure what the correct password was. Now my IPad continues with the incorrect password pop up and my iPhone says I’m not connected to the mail server. One of my accounts is a joint email with my husband. Our joint email account is fine on his Iphone. This is extremely frustrating!!!!

Well, I tried getting help from Microsoft and it's completely useless. You can't get the KM documents to come up with anything related to this issue. I can't get live chat they won't connect me. I requested a phone call. Phone rang. I answered. There was nothing there it disconnected. So I called back the number that he called me and it was a recording that told me to go to their website and go through all the steps I had just gone through to try to get help. I guess we're all just f*cked.

Yet one more iOS bug! What is going on, Apple? You keep dumping new updates with more and more features but the entire OS experience has become an exercise in patience! From the Notes app causing overheating, to the keyboard not showing up when it should, to the Messages app going crazy if someone in a group changes their number, to Siri not being able to handle the simplest tasks, to iCloud not syncing, to pasting nagging, and everything in between.

Steve Jobs’ body is spinning in his grave.

No, One More Microsoft Bug!!! Microsoft has confirmed it. Have you ever considered checking facts before posting utter garbage? You could have saved yourself embarrassment by just READING THE DARN THREAD YOU POSTED TO!!!!

This is what MS said about the issue on 26th: https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/office/outlook-and-other-apps-are-unable-to-connect-to-outlook-com-f4202ebf-89c6-4a8a-bec3-3d60cf7deaef

Microsoft posted this is resolved but it's not. Things worked for about a day and "broke" again. Haven't received mail since Friday, can't send mail, and calendar not updating. Continuously getting prompt for Exchange password, enter it, comes back as incorrect. Just like I originally posted. This is ridiculous!

Anyone else still having issues?

Last night I deleted both accounts, restarted my phone, reinstalled my 2 Hotmail accounts, this morning both are flagging incorrect password, even though it is not, and when I hit cancel about a half dozen times it goes away for the day, but yet the email still works despite all of that. Its just annoying and yes, it has been doing this since I had I-phone 4s which was about 6 years ago. It also did it on my 12. Maybe not the same cause, but it is the same end resulting effect.
