Apple Watch Ultra 1 or 2?

Evening all,

looking to get my very first Apple Watch in which I’m set on the ultra! I’m just not sure whether to go for the 1 or 2?

The few upgrades on the 2 over the 1 aren’t deal breakers for me but wondering whether I’m best spending more on the 2 as it has upgraded internals and therefore more likely to be compatible with future updates over the 1?

should this really be a concern or not? There’s a fairly substantial jump in price from a used 1 to a new 2 but prepared to spend the extra if it’s better in the long run?

hope that makes sense and sorry if it’s a silly question, just thought there would be plenty on here with more knowledge and potentially experience with both!

thank you

We don’t know what Apple might have planned for future changes or future support.

Here is one of various articles about the differences:

If you buy used, make absolutely sure you won’t meet with Activation Lock or carrier lock or a disabled IMEI. And there have been cases of watches sold working, and then the seller reports it stolen and gets it blacklisted.

Yes. The Ultra 2 will no doubt have a longer update cycle than the Ultra 1 at this point.

However, at this time, The Ultra 2, due to an ongoing lawsuit and legal proceedings has lost the Blood Oxygen Monitor feature. Whether it can be legally re-enabled in the future, is unknown at this time
