I am fearful that if i update my watch software on my series 9 watch that i will loose the blood oxygen sensor readings - because of apple's patent violation with the company Masimo
I'm in the UK and have updated to watchOS 10.3 and the blood oxygen feature still works fine on my Series 9 watch. It may depend on your location. I believe it's no longer available on new watches for sale in the US and could later disappear from existing watches.
If you're not in the US, I'd say it will still work as the patent dispute applies there and not other parts of the World.
any mentioning has been of watch 9 and ultra 2 while several other models have blood oxygen
so this will make one suspect that it only removes the feature of models sold after the ban was enforced not devices sold prior
but you can try to reach out to their support to get a verification

yes it will the way patent trial ruling works is to ban it in uk Masimo had to sue apple there too and win, and so forth in various european countries and the likes, it's never a global ruling.
