iMac does not recognise iPhone 13

My iMac (2011) on OS Sierra 10.12.6 running iTunes 12.8.2.3. does not appear to recognise my iPhone 13 since updating to iOS 17.0 Now on iOS 17.3 and no different.

iPhone does not show up on Finder either.

Have swapped cables etc.

My iMac does recognise my iPhone 5s and iPad as normal.

Do you get the advisory message shown in this Apple article:

If your Mac says that a software update is required to connect to iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If so, that poorly-worded article fails to be clear that the download only patches iTunes to work with newer versions of iOS and iPad OS. It does not affect the macOS verison on your computer at all.

It is a small fast downlaod and takes little time to install.
