APO Order (via APO Re-Shipper) Automatically Cancelled

Hello,

I am military stationed outside the US and thus have an APO address. Apple (Shipping & Pickup - Shopping Help - Apple) states explicitly "Apple does not ship directly to APO/FPO addresses. However, there are a number of third-party forwarding services that can conveniently redirect Apple Store shipments to APO/FPO addresses for a fee."

Twice now my order is cancelled by the system as "We are unable to complete your order. We do not ship to freight forwarder addresses. Therefore your order has been cancelled."

Phone service hasn't been of assistance. The first rep told me it must be placed by phone and transferred me to a sales rep. The sales rep stated they couldn't place the order as military discounts can only be done via the online system but they would make a note on my account so it didn't get cancelled.

20 minutes later.... Cancelled. The second time I called I was passed around various reps, none of whom could resolve the issue. Does apple support APO shipping via re-shippers (aka freight forwarders) or not?

Can someone help me?

Hello,

This is Dan from ShipitAPO customer service. There are 2 situations that cause this issue.

1) Applecare CANNOT be purchased with the ShipitAPO address. If you are ordering AppleCare you need to place a separate order.

2) ShipitAPO is 1 of 2 authorized forwarding companies but some new Apple employees are not aware and incorrectly cancel the order during review.

If you ordered is cancelled, what you can do is re-order then forward us the new order number. We can notify Apple and our support team at Apple will monitor to make sure they are not cancelled again. Due to the potential time difference I would ask you place the order Monday-Friday as early as possible in the day so that it gives us enough time to contact Apple.

If you have any more questions please contact me directly: customerservice@shipitapo.com

THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR BUSINESS!

Sorry, but this is a user to user only forum, where no one from Apple actively participates. Apple policy is and always has been to cancel orders which appear to go to a forwarder. That's their written policy and no one here can change it in any way.

If you have family in the US, perhaps have one of them order the phone for delivery to their US address, then they can ship it to you wherever you are stationed. How they might get the Military discount I wouldn't know.

Are you using the EXACT APO/FPO/DPO address ? (including the special “State” (e.g. AA, AP or AE)

Computers are “trained” to follow the rules, any deviation from the standard addressing will gum-up the works.

You should NOT have any references to streets, provinces, or other countries.

Use ONLY exactly what is described in the following USPS addressing FAQ.

The instructions on the Apple website state the following:

Apple does not ship directly to APO/FPO addresses. However, there are a number of third-party forwarding services that can conveniently redirect Apple Store shipments to APO/FPO addresses for a fee.

Here’s how it works:

  • Sign up with one of the freight forwarding services such as APO Box
  • (Opens in a new window)
  • , or select another provider of your choosing.
  • Then simply return to the Apple Online Store for Government and Military Employees to complete your order using the new U.S. address provided by the forwarding service. It’s really that simple.
  • Apple will ship your order to your new U.S. shipping address and the forwarding service will forward your order to your APO/FPO address. (Fees and service vary by vendor.)

These are the steps I am taking and others at my base have had it work successfully.

I wasn’t confused, I was just making sure that “All the “I”’s were dotted.

I honestly don’t know if Apple can even “see” the actual APO/FPO address when a freight forwarder is used … but if they can … and I suspect that they can … ???

(Inexplicably, getting state-side mailers - and their electronic systems - to adhere to the USPS’ military addressing scheme is FAR harder that one might otherwise expect … I know from VERY recent painful experiences)

Another point worth checking … does the mailing address of your payment method ALSO adhere exactly to the USPS’ addressing scheme?

Ditto for the on-file mailing address for the Authentication / Verification provider being used by Apple. (ID.Me)

Yes. That's where I'm at a loss. I'm sending it to an APO re-shipper (not the first time using them, just with apple) as the page outlines. Then Apple has a policy of not shipping to freight forwarders, which is what these reship companies essentially are, but in a very narrow scope. So by some means (address I presume) the order flags as being sent to a freight forwarder and gets cancelled automatically every time. Basically Apples two policies are in conflict and there doesn't seem to be any way to resolve it.
