Magic Mouse 2 not tracking properly on mouse pad

With my old USB mouse, I could move it an inch or two and the cursor would cover the whole computer screen. The MM needs to be moved across the whole mouse pad to access different areas of the computer screen. I've tried two different mouse pads and the results are the same. If I had to use the MM for work I'm sure I'd get carpal tunnel!

Any tips to reduce the mouse travel?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 14.2

Have you gone to Apple menu > System Settings > Mouse and set the Tracking Feed to Fast?
