X2 for VueScan. This has been the scanner software I've used for about 20 years, and I think it's the best out there.
The Canon LiDE 300/400 scanners are supported by Apple's built-in AirPrint, so no Canon drivers are necessary. Do not install anything from the accompanying DVD either. Do not forget to remove the transport lock from the bottom of the scanner.
With the USB cable that came with the LiDE 300, just connect the scanner to your Mac. That is a USB-A to USB-C cable with the USB-C end plugging into the scanner. If your Mac has USB-C ports then you will additionally need the Apple USB-C to USB-A adapter cable.
In the Printers & Scanners panel, just click Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax… button and an Add Printer dialog will appear with the Canon LiDE 300 entry. When you click that entry, the Use: selector will automatically populate with Canon LiDE 300. Here is mine for the LiDE 400 scanner:
Click Add. A new Scanners entry appears on the Printers & Scanners panel for your Canon LiDE 300. If you launch Apple's Image Capture, the Canon LiDE 300 will appear in its side panel and you can scan forthwith.
If the Canon DVD has a standalone installer for their scanning software, you might consider installing that, but I would resist doing so if it will also install scanner drivers that may be incompatible with Ventura.
I happen to use the paid (free trial) VueScan Professional which supports the LiDE 300/400 scanners without Canon drivers and has the advantage of performing OCR text overlay on scanned documents as it writes the PDF.
After checking Canon's website, they do offer drivers for Macs that are compatible with Ventura. You should be fine after installing Canon's drivers.
Continued….Are they compatible please
