Phone doesn't work after ios 17.3 update [iPhone 13]

I updated to ios 17.3 yesterday and since then, the following issues have occurred:

  1. Phone is on reboot loop when plugged into charger (i.e. can't use phone as it's continuously resetting, and barely charges the phone after multiple hours on charger)
  2. Can't access Camera (screen is black)
  3. No Audio or vibrations work (no sound or vibration for notification, can't play videos)
  4. Videos do not play, even without sound
  5. Calls do not work (phone freezes and dies)
  6. Alarms do not work (very convenient for mornings..)
  7. When I connect my phone to my Mac laptop via USB, my phone goes into the reboot loop and thus won't show up as a connected Device on my Mac (so I can't perform a backup to do a hard reset)

Contacted Apple support, they suggested the "manual restore" method which includes pressing each volume button, then the side button until a reset is activated. This took 30 mins and failed, as my phone is doing all of the above points even after the reset.

Any tips? Would preferably like to not lose the ~5k photos and videos I have since my last backup! TIA!

I've done that at least two dozen times. Sometimes it works. Most of the time it won't. And even when hard reset does get as far as showing the Apple icon, it then turns off again. Not an issue of timing or a battery issue. Something has happened after the IOS 17.3 update that has totally locked up my phone. Sometimes the Apple logo will come on the screen, then disappear, then come back, and repeat over and over before eventually just turning black. Phone only came back on once for about 10 minutes before locking up again.

In short, not even forced reset will work.

The "Up, Down, Side" instructions require some precision:

  • Press and quickly release VOLUME UP

     then

  • Press and quickly release VOLUME DOWN

     then

  • Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears (15-30 seconds), ignoring "slide to power off" if it appears

The operative word here is QUICKLY; and try it a couple of times, the timing is a little tricky. If done correctly this will always work unless the phone has a hardware problem.

If this doesn’t work your photos are already gone.

I have the same issue….

You mean ALL of the following are happening on your phone, and you tried the same troubleshooting in the original post:

  1. Phone is on reboot loop when plugged into charger (i.e. can't use phone as it's continuously resetting, and barely charges the phone after multiple hours on charger)
  2. Can't access Camera (screen is black)

And you also lost 5K of photos?

After I updated to version 17.3, my iPhone 11 Pro is likewise in looping mode. After speaking with multiple Apple support representatives, I was given the option to replace my phone for $500 or send it in for $605. This update was so bad that it completely destroyed my phone! I think there will be a class action settlement soon!
