My mac has an old version of OS and I wanted to upgrade to a more current version but none of them show in the apple store, Mojave macOS 10.14, Catalina macOS 10.15, Big Sur macOS 11 are what I looked for and none will display. I know as of 2023 macOS 14 Sonoma is the latest. Can anyone tell me how I can upgrade or perhaps my mac is too old. :-(

Back up your data, check the application compatibility table, click here, and if your Mac is a 2012 or newer model, or a 2010 desktop Mac Pro upgraded with a Metal-capable graphics card, then on the download link for a higher OS.
Catalina and above won't run 32-bit software and split the functions of iTunes up; if you choose one of them, use Go64 as well.

This is what my mac has in the system info: iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011). All of the upgrade links in that link you provided point to the apple store that is not listing any upgrade for me. That's the problem. Everything points to the apple store and the apple store is not listing these upgrades.
So this (below) doesn't work because it points to the apple store and does not find the software to download.
Use the App Store
To download macOS from the App Store, use a Mac that is compatible with that macOS. If your Mac isn't compatible, the App Store dims the Get button, says that the macOS is not compatible with this device, or says that the requested version of macOS is not available.
If these links don't work as expected, try again using Safari, which is in your Applications folder.
