MacBook Air 15" - 2023 recognize External Hard Disk after about 1 hour....

I bought a Macbook air 15 "in June 2023. I already own an older Macbook Pro and an iPad.

The "WD My Passport for Mac external drive" works well with Mac Book Pro and iPad but not with new Mac book air! It starts working after about 1 hour of being connected...

The external disk "Seagate backup plus" on the new Mac Book Air works perfectly.

Solution?

MacBook Air 15″, macOS 13.3

Many thanks for the reply. Unfortunately that didn't work either. The problem was that the "old" ( many years) external disk was ex Fat 32 and therefore loaded very very slowly.

I solved it like this: I bought a new external disk , I moved all the data to the new external disk, I formatted the old external disk to APFS and moved all the data again . Now it works very good and I have a new external disk that, any case , always useful.
