Camera shutter no longer responds to remote

I own the iPhone 14 Pro Max. My camera remote worked fine until the last update 17.3 from Apple. Now instead of controlling the shutter my remote only controls the volume. I tried going to the Bluetooth settings and hit forget this device but the problem remains the same after it pairs again. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem? Thank you.
