email is slow to load, (Version 16.0 (3696.120.41.1.4).
The subject line details appears right away with " get mail " or automatically, but then the message takes ten minutes to load, sometime for each email, sometimes longer!
I click an email, wait, read: click new email, wait, read; and so on.

Try opening Apples Mailtool Connection Doctor. Look for it on bottom left of main window. This will show you in real time more info about the up and downloads going on within that application.
You might try opening Apples Activity Monitor from the Utilities folder under Applications.
look for the disk tab, and cpu tabs, the disk will help show if data is actually been received and at what rate. Yours might show little or lots of activity. The cpu will show what other things that maybe be slowing down response, like a print job that is looking for a printer, a process that is consuming over @30-100%.
Lastly if you leave on, a reboot could help.
