Connecting iPhone 13, 14 and iPad air 2 not connecting to MacBook air

When I connect my phones or my iPad air 2 to my MacBook air for updates etc, the icon in the finder window for the iPhone or iPad just keeps flashing on and of about every 1.5 seconds or so and I am unable to connect my phone, I have used different iPhone charge cables, genuine and none genuine with no change, I have tried both usb ports on my MacBook air with no change, when I connect my phone to my iMac I have no issue, the same happens with my wife's iPhone 13 and the iPad air 2 so am convinced the problem is with the MacBook air, I can connect other devices to my MacBook air like hard drives and such with no issue, I did recently update the software on my iPhone and MacBook and for 1 day it all worked ok, tried today and no good ! I just updated to the latest software to Mac OS Monterey V12.7.3 for the MacBook air, my iPhone and iPad are up to date, I have restarted everything and there is no change !!!!!
